Montalcino is the home of one of the world's greatest wines, Brunello.

The area around Montalcino also offers many historical sites, whose surrounding vineyards are manicured like gardens. Explore the area's imposing abbeys, majestic castles and superb restaurants.

Travelling the winding road to Montalcino from Valdorcia, one is immediately greeted by neat rows of vines. Once in the village, its fortress invites you to explore the medieval village with its ancient walls and narrow alleys.

A few kilometres from Montalcino, the magnificent Abbey of Sant'Antimo is an enchanting and inspiring visit.

A few hundred metres from the Abbey, two wonderful small wine cellars introduce you to the magical world of Brunello di Montalcino.

Stop at Uccelliera, 200 metres from the Abbey towards Sant'Angelo in Colle. A winery run by a family, whose wines express the hard work and passion of Andrea and Paola, owners and creators of these great wines.

Podere Le Ripi is located 1 km from the Abbey, towards Ripa d'Orcia. An inspiring biodynamic winery where the owner's great vision and determination has created real success with the great help of a young team.
