The property - a 200 year old farmhouse - lies in a fabulously picturesque valley next to a vineyard with stunning views in splendid isolation among the rolling Tuscan hills near Montefollonico and Montepulciano. In this B&B we got more of an apartment than a room, while also being welcomed in most of the rest of the house. The owners managed to marry perfectly old, original style with modern demands. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and theatrically decorated with vintage clothes and objects. The hosts Suzanne and Fabio are two of the most warm, welcoming, kind and hospitable people you could ever meet. They gave us a genuine welcome and made us feel more like house guests than customers. Definitely the place to stay if you wish to see the real heart of Tuscany! We stayed in Follonico for three days (21/11-24/11/2009) in the room 'Blu Notte'. We would highly recommend it.

The hosts are very welcoming and open. The house is beautiful. It's close to some beautiful tuscan towns to visit. We stayed in the room 'Verde Intenso' - it was beautiful and romantic. I would highly recommend it.
Your hosts are a delightful Italian-Dutch couple who receive you into their home and provide you with a glimpse of the enchanting Tuscan way of life!I fell asleep to the rural sounds of the country (and outside you can really see the stars in the sky) and awoken by the neighbor 'contadino' working in the surrounding vineyards! Perfect in everyway! So many fabulous historic and cultural places are just a short drive away!!! I advise at least a 3-day stay, or longer if possible, to take advantage of all the surrounding points to visit!!!!
The couple in front of us told us about this marvellous place they had recently stayed in the Tuscan country side near Siena. And so it proved to be! The property lies in splendid isolation among the rolling Tuscan hills near Monte Follonico. This is a B&B with a difference. You get more of an appartment then a room while also being welcome in most of the rest of the house. The owners Fabio (Italian), Suzanne(Dutch) and their three children gave us a genuine welcome and made us feel more like house guests then paying customers. Breakfast is great with all food sourced from within the locality. We travel widely and frequently but rarely have encountered anything like the welcome we received here. Would we recommend it YES YES YES
It's modern, stylish and yet tasteful decor is perfect for design snob like us! Oh yeah, their bed is extremely comfortable! One of my best nights sleeps during our Italy trip.
Suzanne and Fabio have created a unique place, a home to which they welcome you with their warmth, openness and style. They put a huge amount of effort and love to restore the character of the ancient stone walls, immersed in breathtaking views of the countryside, vineyards, rolling hills with Montefollonico and Montepulciano on top as their pearls. They managed to marry perfectly old, original style with modern demands. Suzanne and Fabio add their personal charm and affection, creativity and imagination to all this. We slept in a comfortable bed, in soft linen and cotton, by the open door to the vineyards, singing of the cicadas and birds. We open our eyes in the morning to welcome the magnificent view of Montepulciano bathed in the early sun. A scent of hot grass, earth, wood and herbs filled our suite (we had Alba Chiara). The original shutters permitted only a few sunrays creating a poetic impression of light. Fabio treated us with a superb cappuccino and Tuscan breakfast with delicious local bread, ham and cheese. Suzanne was ever-present, ensuring that her guests were happy. They are wonderful, caring people, eager to please you and show the value of taking the best from nature. Fabio eagerly shared his wealth of information about the region, its history and customs. We had an enchanting time, inspiring conversations with both our hosts. We will return for sure.

Nestled in amongst the vineyards ,not far from Montepulciano, it truly is a remarkable find. I first stayed with Fabio and Suzanne in a B&B they had restored in Tivoli, outside Rome in 2005 . It was a wonderful experience ;I had not travelled much up to that point in my life and this was my introduction to Italy. I have been back 3 times since!!! I was very excited to see they had purchased a farmhouse in Tuscany with plans to renovate. I followed their blog to watch the 'metamorphosis', what an amazing process. I have never met such hard working ,dedicated and sincere people in my life; Fabio ,Suzanne and their family are such lovely people; it truly did complete my trip. The rooms and breakfast room are so beautifully laid out and such care has been taked to make it as comfortable as possible and yet not compromise the original layout of the farmhouse. Renting a car in the area was easy too[we reserved before we left Canada] and the driving was fun [we would never of dreamed of driving in florence or rome] . You could find so many nearby hilltop towns off the beaten track that you can't reach with public transportation. Fabio is a wealth of information to help direct you to any number of nearby villages.. Finding Follonico was not a problem; Fabio's directions on his website brought us right to their door. As we approached their home, winding through the rolling green hills, dotted with cypress trees, we actually had to stop to let a shepherd and his flock of sheep cross the road to an adjacent field- watching them cross ,with their bells clanging, I had to pinch myself- 'am I really here.....is this really happening?' if was like an official welcoming to Tuscany. We would highly recommend this B&B to someone who wants the'real deal'; and feel a part of tuscany, enjoying the simplier pleasures of life.

We were looking for a B&B in Tuscany with a more contemporary feel -- not an easy thing to find -- and when we found the website for Follonico, we knew we had found the one. For once, the pictures on the website actually do a wonderful job of conveying the design sensibility, space and ambience of the place, and the price was incredibly reasonable as compared to other places we looked at. Susanna and Fabbio are warm, wonderful hosts. They couldn't have been more generous with their time and assistance. They obviously take enormous pride in Follonico as evidenced by the care they put into restoring and converting the building. The rooms are large, and airy with views of the surrounding countryside. The beds are brand new, as are the pillows, and are very comfortable. The bathrooms are large and include two Duravit sinks (at least in the two rooms we were in) and open shower stalls with wonderful shower heads and ample hot water. Each room is decorated with wonderful vintage clothes, hats, and knick knacks that Susanna has picked up at flea markets over the years. As referenced on the website, we went to sleep listening to the frogs, and woke up in the morning to be greated by the sound of pheasants, and the bells on sheep moving on the hillside nearby. The breakfast, offered in a lovely room with views (see website), provided a variety of fresh (occasionally still warm) breads, cheese and meats, fresh fruit, fresh yogurt, fresh fruit juices, jams and coffee or tea. We were not required to appear at a specific time and could linger as long as we liked. Over the course of our stay, we enjoyed several warm conversations with Susanna and Fabbio, who could not have been more accommodating or attentive -- even with three young children of their own around. They made wonderful suggestions of places to visit off the beaten track and loaned us all kinds of information for our tours around Tuscany. All in all, we can't recommend Follonico enough, and promised the owners we would share that sentiment here because they couldn't be more deserving of success with this wonderful place.
Its really the place where you will enjoy both romantic toscana country side and spacey as well as stylish living. It's a charming sanctuary decorated in light colours with very good taste, amongst acres of lush vineyards, offering splendid views of both Montefollonico and Montepulciano.
Our hosts Fabio and Suzanne were just wonderful. Such friendly and welcoming people who couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was wonderful. And Follonico was awesome. A beautiful location that really captures the best of Tuscany but is away from the crowds and tourists. The B&B has been wonderfully restored (we saw the photos of the original farmhouse) with amazing attention to detail. Food brilliant - we think Fabio is the best chef! Clean and modern rooms but these guys have made sure that the old charm of the place has been maintained. We cannot recommend this place highly enough; grazie!!! (and yes, we'll be back!) ******

Contrary to a lot of other renovations in Tuscany, this B&B has opted for authenticity rather than sterility. This authenticity combined with the hospitality of the Dutch-Italian hosts and a stunning surroundings makes Follonico 4-Suite B&B the place to stay near Montepulciano. Plus great value for this huge bedroom decorated with gusto. We wished we could have stayed longer. *****
